Dew Yoga at Ryokubi Dojo begins Wednesday, August 1st, 215 Hope Street, Stamford.
August Classes are:
Wednesday 9:30 – 10:45am
Friday 9:30 – 10:45am
Drop-in for $10 all month before the official launch of Dew Yoga September 1st.
These are All Level classes and ALL are welcome from beginner to advanced!
Sensei Jo Jo of Ryokubi Dojo has opened his space to our Yoga community. The official launch of the program will be in September so this month I am offering two classes per week as we settle in to the new environment and welcome new friends to our practice.
Stay tuned for exciting additions in September with a fuller schedule of morning classes 6 days/week, 3 options for class cards, an Open House event and perhaps a rather nice surprise in October.
A website www.dewyoga.net is in the works and will be the place to learn more about the program, the teachers and Dew Yoga events. Patience is appreciated, there’s quite a lot to do to make the space comfortable and warm for all of you. We will be gradually stocking the place with blocks, blankies and cushions – a limited number are on hand now but if you have your own, you might want to bring them this month.
About the Dojo
It is located at 215 Hope Street. It is also a new home for Ryokubi Dojo which was located next to the State Theater on Hope Street. The Dojo, run by Sensei Jo Jo and his wife Mikiko developed quite a following of students and after many years, outgrew the space. Last year they became a non-profit organization and relocated to 215 Hope. The building has been completely renovated and transformed from the former flooring and tile business to a bright, clean, and beautiful Dojo. There is a plenty of natural light, a spacious changing room, restroom, Judo area and Karate area. The floor will be a nice treat on your feet and knees. There is plenty of parking in front and behind the building as well as next door at CVS.
Sensei told us that Ryokubi translates to Strength and Beauty, the two concepts in union with one another and conveying outer as well as inner strength and beauty. He said that it is not enough to be strong or beautiful, one must cultivate both strength and beauty together. Wise words. I like the feeling behind it and I believe we will share his space in a similar spirit.
So, come out to class this week or next, help me get this seed growing and watch our community flourish into a beautiful garden!
Another Important Note about Dew Yoga
It has been my personal mission to contribute and grow the Yoga community in our area. I want Dew Yoga to be a reflection of that community – that is YOU – the students and teacher friends who share their hearts through Yoga. So, please suggest and request as we cultivate this garden. Your input is welcome and highly regarded. Feel free to call me, e-mail or comment here with any questions or thoughts about Dew Yoga.
Hope to see you soon!
Jen
