Studies on chronic pain reveal that Yoga and other mind-body therapies may be helpful. Of course it depends on the cause of pain and Yoga should never be a substitute for medical treament or advice.

It makes sense. Yoga practice includes deep breathing which oxygenates the blood stream and lowers blood pressure. It is also said that Yoga practice promotes blood circulation and is associated with the release endorphins which gives people a sense of ease and general well being. That may not take away acute pain if you happen to drop a brick on your foot however, if you are challenged by daily discomfort associated with age or or habitual physical paterns, Yoga might be a good alternative to pain medications.
