Pics from the Pocono’s

November 9th, 2007

It is so seldom that I get out of town or have a vacation so when Alessandro and I decided to indulge in a few days away to take in the foliage, I resolved to have a mini-break from Yoga asana. That doesn’t mean I stopped practicing Yoga.

Taking a few days away from asana or on-the-mat practice, gently turns my focus to my practice off-the-mat: mindfulness, truthfulness, non-violence, non-attachment, self study, contentment.

It was a truly lovely, inspiring and restful few days. Follow the link to see the pictures and find out if I could truly refrain from asana for 3 days, hover on the photos to understand my thinking….

Now entering K-town.We stayed in Kunkletown, PA, a very, very quiet village with one gas pump and a general store that serves up jalapeno and cheddar pierogies -yum.

A friendly bear. I read that there is an enormous black bear population in Pennsylvania. This one hung around our cabin the whole time and was the only bear we encountered.

Aren't they pretty? These berries were spared big bear paws, we didn’t eat them either.

This is not asana. Hope that water isn't cold!

There was a playground, so I played.

spectacular
The sky was clear and the foliage gorgeous so we hiked.

The light through the trees.

Not asana...just pointing to the sky, so we didn't forget where it was.

DO NOT ENTER?
Nature does funny things sometimes, doesn’t it?

Sharing a moment before finding the meadow.

I love when the trees make me feel small!

So much to take in.

We found a beautiful meadow and view. Still not asana, just recieving the breath and the beauty of the view.

sigh
The view….

Feeling tempted to spontaneously erupt into vinyasa.
Balancing on one foot is not always asana.

Everything in moderation, right? Maybe a day away from asana is enough.

It just felt right - my inner teacher said so.

I can tickle the clouds!

Ta-da!sana
Even Alessandro assumed the posture of the mountain.

Finally!
And when we made it back to the cabin, he paused to receive and rejoice…

contentment - see i was practicing my off-the-mat Yoga.
We relaxed.

Breathtaking? Or Breathgiving?

The sunsets were awesome.

In my practice of SELF OBSERVATION, I was reminded of my TRUTH – to be NON-VIOLENT in my practice of MODERATION I find CONTENTMENT when I NON-ATTACH from my goals and SURRENDER to the flow of ASANA that is in me at all times.

Peace, peace, peace.

Namaste,
Jen
