Melanie Weeks has joined the blog. I was in touch with Melanie by e-mail and I told her, ‘I have heard so much about you from so many different people in the Yoga community that even though we have never met, I feel I already know you.’
For good reason, if you ask someone about ‘Mel’, you quickly understand she must be a busy lady with lot’s of energy and passion for healing practices. She has touched many (figuratively and literally) in many different ways. Continue reading “Welcome Melanie Weeks to the Site!”

In the News today, ‘….Dr. Firshein advises everyone with asthma to engage in regular moderate exercise. “It strengthens the lungs, which helps prevent asthma symptoms,”…’ He continues on to recommend Yoga.
It comes as no surprise to me that Yoga can be beneficial to those who are challenged by Asthma. It seems like common sense but common sense is not always enough to convince people to try alternative approaches in medicine. Rightly so! Continue reading “Yoga for Asthma - Advise Your Teacher”

Good Morning Friends,
In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. I wanted to offer some of his words that I find not only profound but also Yogic.
“Darkness can not drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”
~Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Swami Kripalvananda, the Grandfather of Kripalu Yoga wrote something along the same lines…
“Do not fight the dark. Jut turn on the light.”
~Swami Kripalvananda
Take that into your day.
Love and Light,
Jen

Stay warm - stay safe.
“Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating; there is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather.”

The statistics are frightening, 3 BILLION plastic bags per day used in China. In an effort to give a damn about the planet, they have been banned from being given away freely.
The city of San Francisco forbid use of plastic bags last year, why haven’t more states followed their lead?
Read about China on CNN here.
Read “The Real Cost of Plastic Bags” here.
Read the Associated Press summary on Plastic Bag Laws Worldwide here.
On a personal note, a few months ago I switched to using fabric bags I bought at Grade A for $1.00/each. They are so durable and spacious, I find I only need three bags for a weekly shopping trip. The only trick is, remembering to bring them with you when you go to the store.
