Merging into the Moment
You’ve heard it before, that life is made up of precious moments. But really what does it mean?
Isn’t it all precious moments? The good, the bad, the light, the dark etc.?
It’s just how we perceive the moments.
Recently, I took a class and the teacher contexed the class as a time to merge into the moment. My mind immediately tried to stuff this quote in so as not forget it and then the next thought. I saw us as cars merging into life as if we were merging into traffic patterns. Think about it. In life we all do the dances, the getting to know you, do I like you dance, the culture dance whether it be the work environment or social dance, the angry/fear dance…. the list can go on and on. Regardless, the dance is like merging and not only do we do it with others, but guess what folks, we do it with ourselves!
Yes, how many times have I done this myself? I can’t even begin to count but I am happy to report that I have started to allow these moments to be a call to “merge” back to the place where I never left. That place, love. To be called back to love. To remember that we are love. We never left, we just let fear take us into crazy traffic patterns: off ramps to low self esteem and self loathing, rubbernecking to judgment and comparisons, and roadblocks to even greater fears
I have a friend who would beg to differ and differ quite loudly. She BELIEVES that the cars we drive define us and that that your worth is equal to the car you drive. No shit! So I asked her, “Then how come you are friends with me? I mean I drive an old Toyota that’s ready to be replaced (any day now). What does my car say about me?”. She was speechless and couldn’t answer even when asked days later. Me, in my beater, quite happy with my life merging onto the highway of life, just going along on love. She driving a BMW, merging into her life’s moments, on the belief that the car you drive defines who you are.
So the next time you are driving, take a moment to consider merging into you life, all the moments, all the dances. Sit back, enjoy the ride, no matter what the traffic conditions, take a breath and merge back into yourself, that place of love.
Happy driving!
