The Surprise Bday Weekend

October 27th, 2010

stanandjenQuite a few of you have asked about and shared in the adventure of connecting with my birth father.

The birthday surprise weekend was wonderFull of sharing, connecting, learning and knowing. The surprise we planned for 6 weeks in advance was almost a surprise. It feels good to know that even from North Carolina he follows our ‘dewings’ on the website but noticing all my classes subbed out from Friday to Sunday raised some suspicion – which he referred to as Hope.

Today I refer to it as joy and gratitude. Joy at spending my birthday — had I only known I might have shaved and worn a tie — with my daughter, my grandchildren and my wife who share traits of thoughtfulness and secrecy. Gratitude not only for my daughter’s great efforts, but also for the sacrifices of all of you who care so much for her that you made it possible for her to spend these special days with me. As much as I know she appreciates your generosity and love, know, too, that you have given me a gift that I can neither repay nor ever forget. I am in your debt and can only offer in return … Namaste

A truly beautiful story! The circle of love is never broken:) May your relationship continue to grow. Jen is a wonderful person who I am very happy to know. May we all learn that it is never too late to take a step that may seem a bit scary to leap into.
