The Sanskrit language, which developed over several centuries in India, is known to be the language of auspicious vibration and resonance.

In this two hour session, the entire spectrum of Sanskrit sounds will be revealed through the chanting of its alphabet and traditional mantras and verses.  Participants will learn to pronounce the names of yoga postures and other Sanskrit terms frequently used in class. They will then be able to experience the pure pleasure of Sanskrit through the chanting of its sounds.

Through her love of Sanskrit and infectious sense of humor, Leslie  Freyberg has earned the reputation of leading engaging and meaningful courses in Sanskrit and chanting. As a member of the faculty of the American Sanskrit Institute, Leslie travels nationwide under its auspices to teach the foundations of the Sanskrit Language, an indispensable component for the serious study of yoga. She serves on the faculty of BKS Iyengar Yoga Mala as the Sanskrit teacher for Patricia Walden’s Teacher Training program, and also for the Yoga Shala of Ridgefield, CT.Leslie is a Certified Iyengar Yoga teacher living and teaching in Redding, CT.  She continues her Sanskrit studies with Dr. Ram Karan Sharma at the Ananda Ashram in Monroe, NY.
