Ronnie Oster Falkenburg

Ronnie

I started practicing yoga in 1971. Since that time I’ve had a career as a school psychologist and raised a delightful teenager. My dream however was to teach yoga and so having completed my Kripalu Yoga Teacher Certification in August of 2006, I have made my dream a reality! As a woman of middle age, I truly enjoy teaching beginner and moderate classes. People say, “I got old and stiff. I say it is the other way around. My personal yoga practice keeps my joints fluid and pain free, my muscles stretched and toned and my bones strong with weight bearing poses, like plank Some Vinyasa flows keep up my stamina.

My gentle practice keeps my nervous system calm, my mind serene and focused. But don’t take it from me. Here’s an email from one of my 6am students.

“What I learned at my 6am Yoga class… I figured that my joints would be stiffer and my muscles tighter in the early morning than in the afternoon. And I was right. But I didn’t know that my mind would be less cluttered and it would be easier to breathe with each move than in the afternoon when my head is stuffed with things to do. I’m not morning person, but I really like this gentle early morning class Ronnie promised that I wouldn’t fall asleep and she was right, even thought there is no pounding ‘wake up music,’ just the soft chanting CD and her voice. It’s quite a trip to start out in the dark and finish in full daylight.

I also enjoy individual sessions and small groups with children as well as adults. Teachers often ask me what I said to their students that they behaved all day after a morning counseling session in school. My secret is not what I said, rather we finish our sessions with crane breathing and crane movements and back to class my children go, minds and nervous systems, soothed and focused.
